Dentures are one of the easiest and most affordable ways by which we can help you get your beautiful smile back. Dentures are removable appliances that usually consist of artificial teeth connected to a pink plastic base. Dentures are made up of acrylic or cobalt chromium.
What are dentures made of?
- Acrylic: Acrylic is the pink plastic material which blends in with the gums for a natural look. It is affordable and for functional dentures it looks pleasant.
- Cobalt chromium: This type of denture will still feature pink acrylic on the side that is visible when you smile. However, the back of the denture is made of a thin piece of metal which makes it more durable and comfortable.
- Flexible dentures: This new material can flex and bend to fit in the mouth when you eat, speak or move. Instead of traditional metal hooks, these dentures feature aesthetic hooks that blend in seamlessly with the gums for a natural-looking smile.
Dentures is of two types:
- Partial dentures: Partial denture is suitable when the patient still has some natural teeth remaining. Partial dentures will usually have a clasp to secure them to the existing teeth.
- Full Denture: Full denture is used when the patient does not have any teeth remaining on the upper or lower jaw, or both.
What can I expect from denture treatment?
step 1: First Consultation
A mould of the teeth will be taken. A preferred tooth shade for the denture will be selected to match the existing teeth. These will be sent to a laboratory, which will design and produce a denture prototype that fits you.
Step 2: Second Visit:
The dentist may take a more detailed mould of the teeth and check the bite. This will ensure that the dentures have a comfortable and secure fit and are able to function well.
Step 3: Third Visit
A ‘test’ called prototype will be done to see if any adjustments must be made. Once you are aesthetics, alignment and fit is done, the prototype will be sent back to the lab, for the final denture to be made.
Step 4: Upon completion
Once the finished product is received from the lab, it is issued to the patient. Finally, the patient can return home with a beautifully restored smile.
Dentures are a removable replacement for missing teeth. They can be used to restore chewing function, improve speech, and enhance the appearance of your smile.
There are two main types of dentures:
- Full dentures:These are used to replace all of the teeth in a jaw. They can be either immediate dentures, which are fitted immediately after the extraction of teeth, or conventional dentures, which are fitted after the gums have healed.
- Partial dentures:These are used to replace some of the teeth in a jaw. They are held in place by clasps that attach to the remaining teeth.
Dentures are made by taking impressions of your mouth and creating a custom-fitted appliance. They may need to be adjusted or relined over time as your gums and jawbone change.
Healing period
The healing period for a dental implant typically takes 3 to 6 months.
This is the time it takes for the implant to fuse with the jawbone, a process called osseointegration. However, the overall treatment time, including abutment placement and crown installation, can be longer.
Before and After Treatment
Our Testimonials
One of the best dentist in Bellandur. I've visited Dr. Rayshma to fix my broken tooth, get a root canal and also taken my dad here for dentures. Everytime was a pleasant experience. She was very patient to explain all the procedures with pros and cons, which helped me to take an independent decision. What differentiates her from other dentists is that she does not over charge neither does she pressure you into making decisions.
The new office looks great too.
Want to thank her and her staff. Absolute fab experience!
