Orthodontic braces are a common dental treatment used to straighten teeth and correct bite problems. They work by applying gentle pressure to your teeth, gradually moving them into their ideal positions.
The ideal age for starting orthodontic treatment varies depending on the specific issue. However, most orthodontists recommend that children have their first orthodontic evaluation around age 7. This allows for early detection of potential problems and the development of a treatment plan if necessary.
Remember, early intervention often leads to shorter treatment times and more comfortable experiences. If you have concerns about your child’s teeth or bite, it’s a good idea to schedule a consultation with an orthodontist.
- TraditionalMetal Braces: These are the most common type of braces, consisting of metal brackets and wires.
- CeramicBraces: These braces have clear or tooth-colored brackets, making them less noticeable than metal braces.
- LingualBraces: These braces are placed behind your teeth, making them virtually invisible.
Our Testimonials
Pretty sure it's not a good thing but my kids and I have been going to procure dental bellandur far too often!! From root canal to extraction to braces, between us we've done it all. Every one of them has been a good experience where we felt like we understood what the issue was and why the particular treatment was being done. Dr. Rayshma is a seasoned professional and associates with other excellent doctors. I hope not to go back there anytime soon.... but will for any of my future dental needs 😁

Braces
- Metal braces: Metal braces have been used by orthodontists for decades and their effectiveness has stood the test of time. Metal braces are normally budget-friendly as compared to other orthodontic treatments.Metal braces is of two types:
- Conventional metal braces: It has been used by dentists around the world for decades and their effectiveness has stood the test of time. If you are concerned about cost, this option is normally pocket friendly on your wallet compared to other orthodontic treatments. The metal wires are held in place by bands called ligatures. These ligatures come in a variety of fun colours that can be changed every month,.
- Self-ligating braces: Without ligatures, friction between the brackets and wires is reduced, giving us a faster and more comfortable experience. It is more convenient, as they trap less food and you won’t need to come for follow-up visits as frequently.
2. Ceramic braces: Ceramic braces work similar to metal braces, but the translucent colour of the brackets have the added advantage of blending in with the teeth. This results in a more aesthetic alternative that gives you the same results as metal braces.
What can I expect during braces treatment?
Braces treatment takes around 1 to 3 years to complete. During this period, you will usually be required to see your dentist in every 4 to 6 weeks.
- First appointment: The dentist will take moulds and x-rays of your teeth. Extractions are recommended to make space for movement.
- Second appointment: Brackets and wires are attached to the teeth.
- Regular monthly reviews: Regular monthly reviews are needed so that the dentist can monitor the progress and make adjustments when necessary.
- Upon completion: At the end of the braces treatment, a set of retainers is issued to help maintain the position of the teeth.
